There are two historical bridges over Aras River which are located 100 meters far from each other and known as Khodaafarin Bridges. These bridges are among historical monuments and are located in Kaleybar, East Azerbaijan. One of these bridges is damaged and half of it remained, but the other bridge is completely stable. Khodaafarin Bridges are built between two parts of the Azerbaijani territory, namely, Qareh Dagh and Qareh Bagh. For a long time in the past, people thought of Aras River as a river that originates from heaven. Both bridges are different in terms of engineering and architecture. One of them is made of white stone and has 11 craters. The other bridge is made of brick, and since the river is wider in these part, the number of craters and the length of the bridge are more. Khodaafarin Bridges have gotten many names over passing times such as Siroos Bridges and Hasrat Bridges. Many historical books mention that Arabs used the bridges to conquer Caucasus, a region located on the border of Europe and Asia. It has also been repaired and used by many kings and rulers throughout history. Both bridges are registered as national heritages in 1997.
