Historical and ancient mosques in Iran have always special values due to architectural and religious points. This time we want to introduce a mosque symbolizing the resistance of the Khorramshahr people during the Iran-Iraq war. Khorramshahr Jame Mosque is one of the cultural tourist attractions in the city. There is no detailed information about the constructor of the mosque, but in 1969, its building was being renovated in the present style. Khorramshahr Jame Mosque is located in Chasebi Street in down town, and with over 1,000 square meters area, it has 2 beautiful and tall finials, 2 small and big domes, decorated with brickwork and mosaic tiles by Iranian master artists. There are also wall paintings on the walls of the mosque, a memorial from the era of war, which was drawn by the artist from Hamadan province, Nasser Palangi and was repainted after years of war between Iran and Iraq. With the official start of the Iran-Iraq war in September 1980, the mosque was chosen as the base for popular forces in Khorramshahr until Khorramshahr was occupied by Iraqi forces in November. The mosque now is known as the cultural pole of Khorramshahr. A similar sample of this mosque has been built in the Garden of the Holy Defense Museum in Tehran. On your trip to Khorramshahr alongside surfing in the Seif and Safa Bazaars near the mosque, see other sights in Khuzestan, such as the Shushtar Aquatic Structures, Rangooniha Mosque, the Ramhormoz Mountains and Choghazanbil Zigurat.
