Mandagarana Castle or Fire Temple dates back to about 6000 years ago and is a remnant of the historical Marand in the East Azerbaijan Province. During those ancient times the Mandagarana Fire Temple which is more famous as the castle was on the north of the historical city of Marand. Nowadays local people know this district as the “Kul Tappeh”. There also were three more fire temples around Mandagarna that were destroyed by the presence of Islam in the area and the current remnants are the only remains of the fire temples.
