Geographically located in north of Marvdasht, about 6 kilometers away from Persepolis, Naqsh-e Rostam is a historical monument dating back to Achaemenid Dynasty. This necropolis attracts a great deal of attention because the graveyards of four Achaemenid kings are located there. In addition, some inscriptions depict important events of Sassanid era and add to the beauty of this magnificent heritage. The oldest remnant of Naqsh-e Rostam is from Elamite Period but during the kingdom of Bahram II, in Sassanid dynasty, he ordered to carve his own picture and some of his officials. Kaba-ye Zartosht, a quadrangular and stepped structure which is believed to have many usages such as a fire temple, is also located near Naqsh-e Rostam.
