Teppe Hasanlu is one of the most important historical heritages of the West Azerbaijan Province that hosts many memorials of the thousand year’s history of that area. This magnificent historical monument is geographically located very near to a city called Naqadeh and to reach it, you can drive about 10 kilometers to the Hanaslu village. Archeologists believe that the first habitat in Teppe Hasanlu dates back to about 6000 years ago. Hasanlu is a big hill in the shape of a circle with a diameter as big 250 to 280 meters. Many mud and brick constructions available in this place beautifully depict the residence in some eras. We can also mention that stone structures in Teppe Hasanlu demonstrate the habitat of the later eras. On top of the hill, there is a very strong castle owning a central yard, a big hall and some warehouses. Inside the hall, there are some big potteries that probably were used to store water. In the middle of this hall, 4 columns are located in 2 rows. Another hall in the southern part of the yard was used as the temple. The arsenal, warehouses and the halls were connected to each other. Through different excavations many skeletons were found in this castle which was buried in different shapes and to different directions.
