Attar was a famous poet, theoretician and hagiographer from Nishapur in Iran. He was killed during devastating Mongol’s invasion. His tomb is a historical monument built in Timurid Dynasty. The current construction was fundamentally renovated during Pahlavi Era. This octagonal tomb has four entrance doors and an eye catching dome decorated with beautiful blue tiles. There are four booths on the facade of Attar tomb which are great places for taking pictures reminding you of your trip later. The grave stone of Attar is just located in the middle of the tomb, it is a black stone with his poet and information inscribed on with gold color. His tomb has always hosted those who are eager to learn about Persian culture and literature. In addition to Attar tomb, Parviz Meshkatian who was a famous Iranian musician, composer, researcher and university lecturer, was also buried in front of Attar tomb. The whole construction of the tomb is surrounded by a garden and a small pool. The reflection of the sunlight on the water of this pool makes a nice view and provides a good opportunity to spend some time experiencing the spiritual atmosphere of Attar tomb.
