The Church of St. Nicholas in Tehran was founded in the 1940s during the Pahlavi era by Russian settlers on Shahid Mofateh Street. After the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979, the church was closed for a while, and the n again it continued its activity in 1995, and Russia sent a bishop to the church from Moscow for the administration of the church. Nikolai the Holy is the last Russian tsar, whom he and his family were killed by the Bolsheviks; the Orthodox Church accounted him as one of his saints and called him the nickname of the suffering saint Nikolai. To commemorate the Russian tsar and to keep his name alive, the church was named after him. This beautiful church is very similar to the architecture of the Russian churches.
