Historical and ancient mosques in Iran are considered as one of the cultural attractions and also as the permanent legacy of the art of the Iranian architects. Vakil Mosque in Bam is one of these historical mosques and was built between 1248 and 1277 AD alongside the Zoroastrians Qeisariyeh and Vakil Bath. The mosque was remained from the rule of Muhammad Isma'il Khan Vakil al-Molk and was repaired in Qajar era and in 2003 destroyed by the earthquake in Bam. Vakil mosque has a plan with four balconies and its entrance is in bazzar. As the parts of Vakil Mosque in Bam, we can refer to the courtyard, the pillar porch, the balcony and two bedchamber (shabestan), old and new. The old one has a dome and is decorated with mosaic art and brick pillars and the new one is built in recent years with new materials. Despite the destructions in the Vakil Mosque, you can still see many beautiful tile works in some parts of the building.
