Achaemenes paid special attention to the Persian Gulf in the long period of their rule over Persia. With regard to this fact, several ports had been constructed on the coast or they took advantages of old ports. Tamoukan Ancient City in Bushehr is one of the Achaemenes ancient ports that is located 45 kilometers away from the coastal line of the Persian Gulf, behind Liyan, an Elamite port on the Persian Gulf. Archeologists believe that Temukan City continued its political and economic life during Sassanid and Parthian Empire. According to studies, every year during the first week of New Year in ancient times, Nowruz celebration was held with the participation of various people in this old city. Tamoukan Ancient City and Bardak Siah Palace were constructed during the rule of Darius I. The palace features a hall with two rows of five columns constructed in styles and plans of other Achaemenes structures such as Pasargadae and Persepolis but in a smaller size. The palace was used as a winter palace and it is located 12 kilometers to the north of Borazjan, among palm trees and the intersection of Shahpour River and Dalaki River. The palace was excavated from underground in 1975, and there also were two Charkhab Palaces and black stones in the area dating back to Achaemenes era. Besides the remains of the palace, objects such as a female dagger and several pieces of decorative tools indicating the residence of women in the palace along with four heavy pieces of gold over three kilograms have also been discovered.
