Kordasht Hammam in Jolfa is one of the historical monuments which receives thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every year. Kordasht which is one of the villages in Jolfa, is located on the southern part of Aras River. Kordasht Bath dates back to Safavid era and Shah Abbas dynasty who was the most powerful Safavid King. This building was renovated during Qajar dynasty and has remained the same since then. It was originally considered as a royal bath and was constructed upon Shah Abbas’s order, but after Safavid Dynasty, ordinary people were allowed to use the bath. After several years, the bath was endangered of destruction and it was no longer used by people due to the lack of attention. Nowadays, this building became one of the historical buildings of Azerbaijan and is visited by architecture and history lovers. This marvelous bathroom has a traditional architecture and it was built inside a large garden. Some impressive interior carvings, internal arrangements, and extraordinary domes add extra charm to Kordasht Hammam. The changing room has a dome roof and it is supported by eight columns. The hallway also is connected to the changing room and another octagonal room and the main pool. This room has hot water canal that directs into the bath. In order to boost the tourism, the Cultural Heritage Department of East Azerbaijan has a plan to renovate the bath.
