Shmas Tabrizi was a famous Iranian mystic and poet. He has created many great masterpieces to develop the school of Mowlavi thoughts. After his death, he was buried in Khoy, the largest city of the West Azerbaijan Province. About 10 meters away from his grave stone, there is a minaret as tall as 17 meters which is fully covered with many horns of wild ram. This minaret was built during Safavid dynasty and was decorated with the horn to signify the strength of the Safavid king in haunting. Of course it is believed that, at first there were three minarets surrounding the Shams Tabrizi grave yard but due to some natural reasons two of them were destroyed and only one of them remained.
