Dayr Gachin Caravanserai in the heart of Kavir national park, is one of the main caravanserais of Iran, it is also known as Dayr Kaj, Dayr-al Jas and Kerdshir Caravanserai. It is believed to be more than 17 hundred years old and was named the Mother of caravanserais because it includes a mosque, a mill, bath houses, backyards and stables. This caravanserai roots back to Sasanid dynasty. It was located at the junction of connecting routes from eastern and western, northern and southern areas. In 1382 of solar calendar, Dayr Gachin was registered as an Iranian national landmark. The building was formed like Four Iwans construction and was guarded by four circle towers and two oval towers. It is truly a magnificent work of architecture, as it covered all sort of needs of passengers in the past. A praying area, private areas for royalties, 4 halls and stables, 44 rooms for ordinary people were available there. The Caravanserai area exceeds more than 11 hectare and the external walls were built so hard and thick to resist invasions and natural disasters. Dayr Gachin Caravanserai is a sample of rich Iranian culture and civilization which served people and merchants from faraway lands in the heart of Kavir Desert and was one of the most greatest and creditable houses alongside an ancient main route from Rey to Esfahan.
