Karim khan, the founder of Zandiyeh dynasty, was famous as the regent which means Vakil in Persia language. He chose Shiraz as his capital and ordered to build many buildings. One of these is Vakil Mosque which was named after his title. The construction process of Vakil Mosque started in 1751 during Zandiyeh and later, in Qajar period, it was renovated.
