Located on the skirt of Mount Damavand, lies the metropolis called Hamadan. The city is believed to be the most ancient one in Iran. Medes chose this city as their capital and called it Hegmataneh, however, some historians state that the city has been alive long before Medes. Alisadr Cave, the longest water cave of the world, is located in Hamadan. It is a great place to try pedal boat and visit magnificent views inside the cave. Hamadan hosts the mausoleum of many famous people such as Avicenna and Baba Taher. Ganjnameh inscription in Hamadan remained from Achaemenes era. Beside the inscription, there is a recreational center with cable car which you can enjoy. Lalejin is a famous part in Hamadan whose pottery is world famous. Its pottery could be a nice souvenir from your trip. As the capital of culture and civilization, Hamadan is considered as a great destination for spending some quality time there.
