Many of us may surrender the dangers of nature and suppose that human beings can never overcome the nature. Our ancestors did not think so. They invented Qanat, one of the most creative human structures of ancient times, in contrast of inaccessibility of water supply from habitable places, one of the most important environmental dangers. Qanat is an amazing compilation of fountains and rivers and wells. And now we are faced with a twin aqueduct: Qanats of Ghasem Abad & Akbar Abad in Bam. Bam must be redefined. This time, not with the tragedy that stroke it in 2003, but with its stunning monuments which are still relatively persistent. The twin Qanats of Ghasem Abad & Akbar Abad are among these amazing buildings. These two Qanats, totaling about 3500 meters in length, their discharge (hydrology) comes in a surprising number of 147 liters per second! In general 11 Qanats have been registered at UNESCO World Heritage Sites that each of them has a unique feature Including length, geographic uniqueness and features. In fact this twin Qanat is the most water filled twin aqueduct in Iran and certainly the world, therefore, UNESCO has registered it as the heritage of Iranian Qanat by the vote of all its members. A sweet visit to such a great legacy is a memory that will be remembered after visiting Bam especially if you do it with Alaedin Travel.
