Ilam, situated in the western part of Iran, is covered with mountains and forests, and its pleasant climate and unique natural and cultural attractions receive a great deal of visitors every year. Bankol Mountain is located 10 kilometers to the north of Ilam. The height of this mountain is 2304 meters, and a few rivers such as Kangir River, Moort River, and Abzangavan River originate from this mountain. The mountain is largely covered with oak trees, though other kinds of trees such as turpentine, wild fig, wild cherry and hawthorn trees can be found in this region.
