Mehriz city is famous for its numerous historical castles. The Khormiz Castle is one of the most valuable castles in Mehriz dating back to 1600 years ago in the Sassanid period. In the past, this castle was the location of deployment for soldiers and guards and equipment maintenance. Khormiz Castle in Mehriz is located on a hill at a height of 5 meters. Clay and stone are the main materials of the building of this castle. The lower parts of the walls of the castle are made of stone and the upper part of is made of clay. To protect the castle against the onslaught of enemies there are quiver at the edge of the walls. Six watchtowers have been created around the castle. Four towers exist in the quadrangle and two towers facing each other along the length of the castle, each with a height of 6 meters. The entrance to the castle has two floors. The inner part has been rebuilt many times. This beautiful castle remains relatively healthy in comparison to other castles and local people were living in there until a hundred years ago. There is a shaft on the left side of Khormiz Castle named as Chah Sangi, which used to provide water in the past, but today is dried up.
