Chapar Khaneh in Meybod which means courier house in the Persian language is a mud brick structure in Meybod dating back to the Achaemenid Era. Chapar Khaneh in Meybod is a Qajar structure build on the ancient Rey-Kerman road next to the city’s Shah Abbasi Caravanserai. It was built in 19th century next to Meybod caravanserai. This place was where the people exchanged letters, just like a post office. The task of Chapar Khaneh was to maintain and domesticate young horses. These horses' role was to send and exchange letters and important objects fast. Thus, Chapar Khanehs looked like castles for the defense and protection of these valuables. The structure has a room for the courier chief, rooms to house couriers, guards and stables. Chapar khaneh has been the location of the Post and Communications Museum of Meybod since 2007 and showcases memorial stamps, postal and communications documents and equipment from the Qajar and Pahlavi eras among other items.
