In the west part of Kerman, there is a city called shahr-e Babak which is left from the ancient time with unique historical monuments. Shahr-e Babak was so flourishing in Sassanid’s dynasty. Azarbaq Fire Temple is one of historical attractions in Shahr-e Babak that its date of construction returns to Kiani empires and the beginning of Zoroaster. The remains of Azarbaq Fire Temple are located 30 northwest of Shahr-e Babak on Anar to Shahr-e babak road. This fire temple which is in Kahtoo Karha village, was destroyed by Eskandar and after that a guy named Babak, son of Sasan, repaired it. Azarbaq Fire Temple has 9 meters’ height which is made by stone and has four entrance doors in four sides of this place. Above each door, there is a small window which makes it more beautiful. The roof of Azarbaq Fire Temple is like a dome and the inside walls are covered with plaster. Shahr-e Babak was destroyed in the last period of Safavid dynasty when Afghan forces were leaving Iran. Azarbaq Fire Temple was damaged a lot during the battle between Afghan forces and warriors of Shahr-e Babak. The commander of Shahr-e Babak named Mir Ghotb-ol Din Heidar was killed during this battle and was buried in Azarbaq Fire Temple. That is why Azarbaq Fire Temple is also known as Mir ghotb Aldin Heidar dome. There are other tourist attractions in Shahr-e Babak like Meymand stoned village, Musa khani building, Shahr-e Kohne mosque and Mansoori tower.
