Rey Castle is geographically located above historic inscription of Cheshme Ali so you can take the benefit of visiting two historical monuments at the same time.  Rey Castle is about 6000 years old, which probably dates back to ancient Iranian tribe called Medes. Unfortunately, Rey was destroyed by an earthquake. After a while, it was totally rebuilt by Seleucus. Rey Castle is a defensive wall constructed all around the city to protect it during the power of Parthian. The wall today is as long as 3 kilometers. Just like the main castle of Rey, the wall was made of adobe and brick and has some watch towers. The wall depicts the bigness of Rey before the advent of Islam. Rey Castle has gone under many renovations during different reigns specially Buyid Dynasty. Rey Castle is a nice existing example for showing how ancient people protected their territory. Visiting it provide you with an unforgettable trip to history.
