Marmisho Lake in Urmia has remained unknown for many tourists. This lost paradise is surrounded by charming and eye-catching nature and it is home to many animal and plant species. Marmisho Lake is located 45 km to the west of Urmia and in the borderline of Iran and Turkey. The road to the lake is situated in a beautiful valley which owns a spectacular mountainous view. According to the narrations, the lake has gotten its name from a Christian leader who was called Benjamin Marshimon in the 18th century. Throughout the river to the lake, it is surrounded by willow trees and has created a unique landscape which touches your soul. In addition to willow trees, some other trees such as oak, pears, almond, and hawthorns create a greenery environment around the lake. Along with the attractions of Marmisho Lake, visitors can also enjoy the beauty of a waterfall near the lake. The waterfall is also called Marmisho and it is a seasonal waterfall and it flows throw the cliffs around the river during rainy seasons. Due to the abundance of flowers around the lake, this area is also suitable for breeding honeybees.
