Known as Haziratolghozat, Haziratoshoara, and Sorkhab Cemetery, Maqbaratoshoara in Tabriz is a burial ground of some 400 poets, mystics and luminaries of Iran. The date it was found is unknown but it was first mentioned by Hamdollah Mostowfi in his book, Nozhat ol-Golub, in the 13th century. Many attempts have been made to renovate this graveyard in the 1970s, and a new symbolic building has been carried out since then. The first poet buried there was Asadi Tusi. The designed symbol is a combination of modern and traditional architecture which was done in such a way that has not lost its charm by passing time. The design of the tomb was suggested by Mr. Gholamreza Farzan in a competition in 1971. The area around the tomb includes beautiful handmade sculptures, inscriptions, painting and relaxing pool which have changed it into a wonderful place to visit. Shahryar, the well-known poet of Tabriz is the last person who was buried in Maqbaratoshoara. Shapur Neyshapuri, Anvari Abivardi, Zahir al-Din Faryabi Shams al-Din Sajasi, Mojir al-Din Balaqani, Homam Tabrizi, Khaqani, Mani Shirazi, Lesani Shirazi, Shakibi Tabrizi, Maghrebi Tabrizi, Falaki Shirwani, Qatran Tabrizi are other famous people buried in Maqbaratoshoara.
