Alexander's Prison, or the Zia'iya school in Fahadan neighborhood of Yazd, was built in 1252 AD (about 8 centuries ago). It’s said that Alexander Prison was built on the request of Alexander the great, during his invasion of Iran, this complex was modified later and used as a school. No tile works have been used in the construction of this building and perhaps this is the secret of survival of this monument until today. The beautiful dome of this building is made of brick and is decorated with azure and golden plaster that nowadays only a part of it left over. It has an old courtyard with three balconies around it. It is also possible to mention the presence of a well in the middle of the courtyard, which ends to the cellar. In terms of location, Twelve Imams Tomb, the Lari House and the Heydarzadeh Museum of Coin and Anthropology are located near Alexander's Prison. One significant feature about Alexander's prison is the dome that is very similar to the dome of the Twelve Imams Tomb.
