On 35 km north of Mehdishahr and on the border of Semnan and Mazandaran province there is a vast region that was declared as a protected area in 1346. The protected area of Parvar covers about 62500 hectares. Parvar Protected Area consists of 3 safe areas called Sidova, Kalord and Seram Lalum which Sidova region was promoted to the National Park in 1394. Since Parvar Protected Area is located between the two Caspian and Desert Climates, there is a large diversity in its ecosystem, so that each section has its own vegetation and animal characteristics appropriate to the climatic conditions of the area. In the northern part of Parvar Protected Area in Mehdishahr, broad-leaved trees are widespread with an average annual rainfall of twice more than the southern part. The high mountains are dispersed in the north and in the southern part of the lower mountains are located. 39 mammal species live in the Parvor Protected Area , where the population of animals in the northern part of the region is denser. The water of the Protected Area is supplied from the river and springs in the region. Sefid Rud River is the most significant river of this region that originates from Nizva highlands. Among the mammals of the region brown bears, leopards, black horns, deer, wolves and birds such as Eurasian eagle-owl, partridge, quail and a variety of hunting birds can be mentioned.
