Neor Lake is located on Ardabil road to Khalkhal and is one of the best natural tourist destinations, especially in the summer. It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Iran and is the starting point of one of the most beautiful hiking, cycling, and Safari routes which lead you to the charming Sobatan Village. Travelers can enjoy spectacular natural landscapes such as cliffs and native plants. Neor Lake consists of two small and large lakes that are connected with each other in spring. The natural beauty of the lake motivates plenty of nature lovers and photographers to spend some time and record the most eye-catching images. Sport lovers in different groups cycle along the lake to the Sobatan Village and make the best of their trip. Some travelers just prefer walking which is about 18 to 24 kilometers, and the best time to take this long walk is in the middle of May to the end of June. Since Neor Lake is located among mountains and it is surrounded by different peaks, it can be a special experience for mountain climbers. You can climb over these mountains and enjoy watching the plains, mountains and the lake between them below your feet. Neor Lake is home to many migratory birds which visit the lake for a short break. If you visit the lake during migration season, you can see some of these species.
