A magnificent historical monument called Sheikh Safi al-Din Khānegāh and Shrine Ensemble lies in North West of Iran, Ardabil. The shrine was constructed between the early 16th century and the late 18th century. Iranian traditional architectural forms were used to build this spiritual place in the Sufi tradition. It was tried to use this place to the maximum level and for a great number of functions. The ensemble consist of a bakery, kitchen, hospital, cistern, mausoleum, school, mosque, library and some offices. There are seven stages of Sufi mysticism and eight attitudes of Sufism, so the complex owns seven parts and eight gates mirroring these facts. In Sheikh Safi al-Din Khānegāh, well preserved and beautifully designed facade and interior parts could attract the eyes of any beholders. A medieval Islamic architecture is formed by the whole structure.  Some mystics from Safavid era and their wives and some who were killed in battles have been buried here so visiting this place you would feel both its historic and spiritual atmosphere.
