Ilkhanate Museum started its activities in 1996 as a specific museum of Ilkhani dynasty. This museum is a magnificent manifestation of civilization during Ilkhani era in Iran and since Maragheh is a turning point in the history of Ilkhani, it is known as the museum of Ilkhani dynasty. This museum contains valuable collections such as coin, glass, glassware, ceramic, metal and booklet. The coin collection is one of the most completed collections of Islamic coins and most of them are silver and gold and they were coined for special occasions and celebrations, and also copper coins were used for everyday transaction. The pottery art of Ilkhani dynasty can be called the golden age of Islamic pottery. The noticeable characteristic of pottery in this period is the variety of pottery made with different techniques and various decorations. The art of glassmaking is a scarce example of that era which has various decoration and was collected from different parts of the country. In metal section, there are valuable examples of metal works including metal containers, tools, and bronze candlesticks, which were made using casting and stamping. In addition, Ilkhanate Museum (Ilkhani Museum) exhibits exquisite marble tombstones with extraordinary geometric patterns.
